The City of DeKalb is designed to be the futuristic, urban city of connectivity that puts people ahead of technology - the Wakanda of the future. This presentation discusses our neighborhood component (Community Area Planning Units), where the money comes from, how the new city starts, how we can make economic development succeed and more.

Mike Carnathan makes data really easy-to-untand. Data on metro Atlanta with focus on southern DeKalb. Short housing supply, 6 main investors and visuals of where investors are purchasing.
Georgia's weak landlord/tenant laws allow for quick evictions and little tracking of investors. Charlotte Davis, Deputy Dir of Govt Relations for GMA stresses the rights of local goats.
Mayor Motley Broom of College Park where 75% of residents are renters talks about local govts, purchase-to-rent, and the impact of quick evictions.

Our speakers were great! Economic Development is an eco-system that includes the need for good labor, good leadership and a good plan. Assess your strengths and weaknesses, envision what you want and incorporate new innovative changes.
We at DeKalb Cityhood Movement believe that we need a name, a focus on southern DeKalb, and a government that can focus solely on us.
